Croatia 1-1 Portugal
Poland 1-2 Scotland

Going into their last group game, Scotland knew a win in Warsaw, a win for Portugal in Zagreb, and a three goal swing would mean Scotland would finish second and qualify for the quarter finals. To prevent automatic relegation Scotland needed a win.

Scotland got off to the best possible start after only three minutes when they took the lead. Gilmour played a great ball through to Doak, who cut the ball back for McGinn to hit a low shot into the bottom left hand corner. Gordon had to tip a shot from Piątkowski over the bar just after 10 minutes. Six minutes later, Poland had a great chance but Świderski hit the side netting. A few minutes later, the same player had a low shot blocked by Gordon. With 33 minutes on the clock, Gilmour hit a great shot from outside the box that hit the crossbar. At the same time, Joao Felix put Portugal ahead against Croatia. Scotland just needed a second goal or another goal for Portugal to put us in second place. A few minutes later McTominay was through on goal, but his low shot was saved by the keeper. At the other end Buksa had a low shot blocked by Gordon. Three minutes before the break a great shot from McTominay came back off the post. At the start of the second half a shot by Kamiński was blocked on the line by a sliding Souttar. Just before the hour mark Poland equalised with a thunderbolt from Piątkowski into the top left corner from outside the box. Although Poland had equalised, Scotland just needed another goal to put them second in the group. It would go all the way to the ninth tiebreaker rule which would be that Scotland have more away wins than Croatia. Five minutes later Skorupski made a great save to deny a Dykes header. In the other match, Gvardiol equalised for Croatia, meaning that second place was looking unlikely. Scotland were still going for the win and looked the more likely to score. In the 92nd minute a great ball to the back post from Souttar was met by the head of Robertson, who scored a bulleting header in off the post to give Scotland a late 2-1 victory. The victory meant that Scotland avoided automatic relegation. But as the other match finished 1-1 in Zagreb, Scotland had to settle for a promotion/relegation play-off against one of League B's second placed teams.
