It was debated whether Scotland should be playing two tough frendlies at the end of a long season, and it was shown in this game, when an obviously tired Scotland team put in a poor performance against an Italian team building up for Euro 2016. After only 6 minutes, David Marshall had to make a double save from Candreva and then Giaccherini. Just before the half hour mark, Giaccherini should have put Italy ahead, but he put the ball wide. 10 minutes later, Florenzi also put the ball wide with a shot from outside the box. 10 minutes into the second half, Italy took the lead when De Rossi passed to Éder, who laid the ball off to Pellè, who curled a shot past Marshall into the right hand corner. In the 77th minute, Scotland got their first shot at goal, when Steven Naismith passed to Matt Ritchie whose shot went past the left hand post. It was the best that Scotland could give in a poor performance, where the 1-0 scoreline flattered Scotland.
