Gordon Strachan's team for the friendly with Denmark was full of inexperienced players, of which three were given their debuts. Scotland took an early lead after only 8 minutes when a defensive slip up by Daniel Agger let Matt Ritchie through to slot the ball past Kasper Schmeichel. Just after the half hour mark, Gordon made a low save from a shot from Jørgensen. Three minutes before half time, Whittaker floated a ball in from the right for Schmeichel to save a low diving header from Steven Fletcher. Four minutes into the second half, Schmeichel had to make another save, this time a curling shot from Shaun Maloney was tipped over the bar. with less than 20 minutes remaining, Gordon had to make a double save, first a shot from outside the box by Eriksen was palmed out, and Gordon also saved the rebound from a Braithwaite header. A minute later Jørgensen had a great chance to score, but he hit the ball over the bar from close range. With 77 minutes on the clock, Ritchie should have got his second, but his shot from close range was blocked by Christensen. The game ended 1-0 with Scotland having two creditable wins in their last two games.
