Slovenia started the match better and it took them just 3 minutes to threaten McGregor's goal but McGregor made a save with an outstretched foot. Midway through the first half a shot from James Morrison is palmed onto the bar by the keeper, and a couple of minutes later McGregor tips a curling free kick over the bar. Five minutes later Slovenia took the lead. Brecko crosses the ball in to the middle from the right for Kirm to head past McGregor whilst he was being challenged by Russell Martin. Their lead did not last for long as 7 minutes later Christophe Berra powers a header past their keeper from an Adam corner. A couple of minutes later Berra almost scores a carbon copy but his header goes over the bar. In the second half Radosavljevic has a shot straight at McGregor, and substitute Barry Bannan has a long range shot saved. With 15 minutes left, Mackie has a header shave the outside of the post, and 5 minutes later Slovenia have a shot go just past the post. The match finished 1-1 which was a fair reflection of a match that just fizzled out in the second half.
