Going into Scotland's final qualifier, they were without an injured Maloney and a suspended Whittaker. Jordan Rhodes also withdrew from the squad with injury.
Scotland made a great start to the game with them controlling the match and passing the ball well. It was just before the half hour mark that this payed off. Naismith collected the ball down the left wing and passed to Mulgrew on the overlap, who crossed in to the back post for Snodgrass to head past Pletikosa and give Scotland a deserved lead. A couple of minutes later Snodgrass almost got his and Scotland's second. A well worked move with intricate passes ended with Morrison passing to Snodgrass, who played a one-two with Brown, before unleashing a low shot that Pletikosa touched onto the post. In the second half, Croatia upped their game and came close to equalising when Eduardo rounded McGregor but could only find the side netting. With 20 minutes remaining Anya was upended in the penalty area and the referee pointed straight to the spot. Up stepped Barry Bannan and his penalty was well saved, but Naismith was quick off the blocks to slot home the rebound and make it 2-0. Scotland saw out the rest of the match to end a disappointing campaign on a high and fill the Tartan Army full of hope for the Euro 2016 campaign.
