After Craig Levein's sacking, Under 21 coach Billy Stark took charge of the senior team for the friendly in Luxembourg. Jordan Rhodes started up front, and he was quick off the blocks. He came close after 8 minutes when he hit a shot just past the post. A couple of minutes later Dixon crossed the ball in and the ball came back off a defender for Rhodes to head in from close range and make it 1-0. Just over 10 minutes later, Rhodes doubled his and Scotland's goal tally. Andrew Shinnie played the ball across the goal and the ball came off the keeper into Rhodes' path for him to knock it home. A minute into the second half, Luxembourg pulled one back when Gerson curled a free kick over the wall and past Gilks. With 20 minutes remaining, Gilks was called into action. Mutsch played a great ball to the head of Bensi, but his header was pushed past the post by Gilks. With 5 minutes remaining, Gilks made another save from a Bensi shot. Scotland held on to give Billy Stark a victory in his game in charge.
