To mark the 150th anniversary of the English FA, the oldest international fixture was being played for the first time in 14 years.  After only 11 minutes a Scotland corner was headed clear by Wellbeck to James Morrison who collected it outside the box and unleashed a shot that Hart could not keep out, to give Scotland a 1-0 lead.  Just before the half hour mark, England equalised when Cleverly played a great ball though to Walcott, who took on Whittaker and slotted the ball past McGregor.  A few minutes into the second half, Scotland regained the lead.  Hutton passed to Kenny Miller on the edge of the penalty area, and with his back to goal he lost Cahill before turning and unleashing a great shot past Hart.  Scotland's lead only lasted for four minutes this time, as Wellbeck latched on to a Gerrard free kick to head past McGregor.  With 20 minutes remaining Baines floated in a corner and substitute Ricky Lambert met with a powerful header to beat McGregor and give England a 3-2 lead.  In injury time at the end, Lambert almost doubled his tally when he hit the post.  Although the game ended 3-2 to England, Scotland could go home with their heads held high.
