Following the Iceland goalkeeper situation, Steve Clarke called up Aberdeen's Ross Doohan, who cut his holiday short, along with Bournemouth teenager Callan McKenna. Scott McTominay and Kieran Tierney also did not travel, after taking knocks.
Even although this was a friendly against Liechtenstein, alot of pressure was on Scotland following the Iceland result. Alot of that pressure was relieved after only four minutes when Che Adams gave Scotland the lead. A shot from Miller was blocked in the box, and it fell to the feet of Adams who shot past the keeper from inside the box. Twenty minutes later Scotland doubled their lead. A poor pass from the keeper led to their defender being tackled by Miller. He played the ball to Adams who beat the defender, before hitting a low shot into the bottom left corner to make it 2-0. Just before half-time, Scotland were given a scare, when Liechtenstein shot wide, when they should have scored. Two minutes into the second half, Scotland made it three. A shot by McGinn hit the post, and the rebound was collected by Ralston on the wing. He floated a ball into the box, that was headed on by Adams to Hirst to knock it in at the back post to get his first goal for Scotland. In the 92nd minute, Adams got his hat-trick. Barron played a great pass down the wing, for Conway to play the cross into the near post, where Adams came in and headed in from close range. It was virtually the last touch of the ball and gave Scotland and Che Adams a bit of a boost, even although it was only against Liechtenstein. Things would be much harder when the World Cup qualifiers came around.
