Scotland went into the Lithuania game sitting top of Group F after their 5-1 victory over Malta. Thirteen minutes into the game, Callum Paterson headed just wide from a Matt Ritchie free kick.  A few minutes later, Snodgrass hits a free kick just past the right hand post. Midway through the first half, Chris Martin connects with a Snodgrass cross to hit a low shot past the post from a tight angle.  At the start of the second half, David Marshall makes a low save from Arvydas Novikovas. A few minutes later, Scotland came close when a Snodgrass shot was blocked, from the follow up, Barry Bannan had a shot blocked, and then an Andrew Robertson cross was put out for a corner.  Four minutes later, Andrew Robertson plays a great ball in from the left, and a Chris Martin header goes just past the post. On the hour mark, against the run of play, Lithuania took the lead. Fedor Cernych played a one-two with Vykintas Slivka before slotting the ball past David Marshall. A couple of minutes later, Scotland had a great chance to level, when a Robertson cross was palmed out to James Forrest, who hit a low shot that went just past the left hand post. With 17 minutes remaining, Lithuania almost got a second when Cernych hit a shot just past the right hand post. Six minutes later, Leigh Griffiths had a great chance when he headed straight into the keeper's hands from a Snodgrass cross.  In the 89th minute, Callum Paterson took a long throw in to the box.  It was headed on by Grant Hanley to James McArthur, who headed past the keeper to make it 1-1. In Injury time, Leigh Griffiths was pushed in the box, but no penalty was given.  In the 96th minute, Lithuania cleared the ball off the line, when Grant Hanley tried to force the ball over the line.  The game was to end 1-1, in what was an embarassing result.
