Georgia 1-7 Spain
Cyprus 0-3 Scotland

Scotland went into the Cyprus match knowing victory would leave them in a strong position for qualification, and that was shown in the early stages. After only six minutes Scotland took a 1-0 lead. A cross into the box from Robertson was headed on by McGinn for Scott McTominay to head in at the back post. A few minutes later Cyprus hit the bar, but the flag went up. They then came close when Kastanos had a shot go just past Gunn's left hand post. After 16 minutes Scotland made it 2-0. A free-kick by Robertson was floated into the box to Hendry, who headed the ball down to Porteous. He controlled the ball with his left and shot with his right from close range past the keeper. On the half hour mark McTominay made a run down the right wing before cutting in and passing to McGinn on the edge of the box. McGinn then hit a curling shot to the left had side of the net to make it 3-0. A couple of minutes later, McTominay was close to making it 4 when he hit a curling shot that went low past the keeper's right hand post. Ten minutes into the second half Robertson hit a low cross to the back post where McTominay slid in and shot just past the post. With fifteen minutes remaining McTominay hit another curling shot from just inside the box that came back off the post. Five wins out of five put Scotland in a strong position. Spain's win over Georgia meant that Scotland were just two points from qualification and a draw between Norway and Georgia would confirm that.
