Serbia were the first team to test the keeper after five minutes when a Kolarov free kick was parried by McGregor. Steven Naismith was then lucky to stay on the field as he appeared to elbow an opponent in the face.  After 20 minutes, Snodgrass forced a save from Stojkovic when he latched on to a quick free kick from Caldwell.  Naismith then headed just wide from a Snodgrass cross.  Just before the break, McGregor saved a low shot by Lazovic.  In the second half Morrison dinked the ball through to Miller, who had his shot blocked by the keeper. Just after an hour, Kolarov drilled a low shot just past McGregor's left hand post.  A few minutes later, Caldwell played a great ball through to Naismith who lifted the ball over the outcoming keeper but just past the post.  With a minute remaining, McGregor was called on to make a save from Tadic, who latched on to a great pass by Tosic. Scotland almost snatched it in injury time when Forrest collected a pass from Adam, and his resulting shot was saved by Stojkovic.  The game finished goalless, and it was a disappointing result to a dissapointing match that Scotland should have won.
