Scotland 2-3 Germany

Following Scotland's defeat in Georgia, Scotland were hoping that they would take something from the home match against Germany.  Things did not start well, as after only 18 minutes, Muller collected the ball in the Scotland half, and hit a low shot that took a deflection to take it past Marshall and give the Germans the lead.  10 minutes later Scotland were level.  A free kick from Maloney was floated into the box and the Neuer palmed it out, only for it to go back in off Mats Hummels for an own goal.  Five minutes later, the Germans were back in front.  Emre Can shot from just inside the box, and his shot was palmed out by Marshall, and poor defending let Muller head the ball in off the post. Two minutes before the break, Scotland levelled again.  A corner form Maloney was headed away only to fall to McArthur on the edge of the box, who half-volleyed the ball past Neuer to make it 2-2.  Ten minutes into the second half, the Germans went ahead for the third time.  Gündogan passwed to Muller, who layed the ball off for Gündogan in the middle to hit a low shot in off the post.  Just after the hour mark, Marshall saved a powerful shot from Schweinsteiger.  A few minutes later, Scotland had a great chance to equalise when Hutton played a one two with Steven Fletcher, but his shot hit the side netting.  With just over 5 minutes remaining, Marshall pulled off another save from Gündogan, for the game to finish 3-2 to Germany.  It meant that Scotland would find it hard to qualify with Ireland beating Georgia.
