For the Lithuania game, Smith chose a more defensive formation and Boyd was dropped to the bench. After only two minutes, a volley by Zvirgzduaskas was headed off the line by Naysmith. At the other end a shot by Quashie was parried by the keeper. A Miller header was cleared off the line before a long range effort by McFadden was saved. Two minutes into the second half, Scotland took the lead. A corner by Naysmith was met by Dailly, who outjumped the defence to score a powerful header. Just after the hour mark, Miller doubled Scotland's lead. A free kick by Gordon was headed into the penalty area by Boyd, into the path of Miller, who controlled the ball with his chest before he hit a great shot on the turn past the keeper. Lithuania came close when a shot by Poskus was touched round the post by Gordon. There were some tense moments at the end after Lithuania pulled a goal back. Substitute Miceika scored a spectacular overhead kick with five minutes remaining. Scotland held on though to record a 2-1 away victory.
