Scotland went into their final warm-up before Euro 2020 with six of their seven missing players back. John Fleck was still isolating in Spain. Steve Clark made seven changes to the starting 11, with this looking more like the predicted starting 11 for the Czech Republic match.
Luxembourg almost took the lead after only seven minutes, when Marshall pulled off a great save to prevent Grant Hanley from scoring an own goal. On the 15 minute mark, Robertson put a great cross into the box for Dykes, but his header hit the post. Just over ten minutes later, Scotland took the lead. Dykes supplied the pass to Che Adams, and he hit a low shot that went under the keeper to make it 1-0. Six minutes later Luxembourg were down to ten men. Adams played a great ball through to Dykes, but he was pulled down by Selimovic. He was the last man, so he had to go. Just into the second half, substitute Billy Gilmour had a low shot tipped past the post. Just before the hour mark, Gilmour had another shot saved when he took on two defenders, before unleashing a shot. Adams then looked to have doubled the lead with a header, but he was harshly penalised for pushing the defender. With 12 minutes remaining, Dykes had another chance, when he headed a Fraser cross wide. The game ended 1-0, and although it didn't sound like a great result, it could and probably should have been four or five nil.
