Match played behind closed doors
Because of the Coronavirus lockdown, this was Scotland's first match in over 9 months, which was also to be played behind closed doors. Due to reconstruction of the Nation's League, Scotland were playing Israel, who they played in the last competition, and were also playing in the Euro 2020 play-offs.
Three minutes before half time, Marshall made a great save from a Dabbur header, to stop Israel taking the lead. A minute later, up at the other end, Scotland were awarded a penalty after McGinn was deemed to have been fouled. Up stepped Ryan Christie to hit it high into the top left hand corner, giving the keeper no chance, and giving Scotland a half time lead. With 20 minutes remaining Eli Dasa put a curling low cross into the box, but luckily two Israel players missed it. A couple of minutes later, Zahavi found his way through the Scotland defence and hit a screamer into the top right corner, to level the tie. In the final five minutes, Scotland had some half chances, but not enough to get a winning goal. So Scotland's Nation's League started with a 1-1 draw.
