Scotland were full of confidence after an impressive persormance against England and they knew that the game away to Lithuania was a must win game.  The starting lineup had 6 Celtic players in it.  Scotland piled the pressure on Lithuania right from the start, and Griffiths almost gave Scotland the lead after 6 minutes, with a shot that went just wide.  Some slack defending almost let Lithuania in a few minutes later, but a poor finish saved Scotland. A minute later Matt Phillips went on a great run on the edge of the box, but his shot went over the bar.  With 20 minutes on the clock, Craig Gordon had to make a great save from a free-kick by Novikovas.  Five minutes later, Scotland took the lead.  A corner by Griffiths was headed in by Stuart Armstrong at the back post to make it 1-0.  Just before the half hour mark, Scotland doubled their lead.  Forrest laid the ball off to Robertson on the edge of the box, who took a touch before he curled it in the top corner.  At the start of the second half, Scotland almost got a third when a cross by Robertson was met by Griffiths at the back post.  His volley only made the side netting though.  Just before the hour mark, Lithuania should have scored, but they put the ball wide when Gordon was beat.  With just under 20 minutes remaining, Scotland got a third.  A quick throw-in by Richie was met by Griffiths, who layed the ball off for McArthur.  His close range shot was deflected off the keeper into the back of the net, to give Scotland a deserved 3-0 victory.
